Two and a half years have passed since “Lost July,” the catastrophe that engulfed the world and reduced an entire city to ruins.
Now a senior reporter, Meryl continues her search for Vash alongside her junior colleague Milly, during which she reunites with Nicholas. As incidents involving the theft of Plants begin to surface once more, the shadow of Millions Knives and his faction looms large.
Meanwhile, Vash has been living quietly under the name Eriks in a remote frontier town. His fragile peace is shattered when Jessica, a young girl, appears bearing an SOS from the third ship, “Home.” Determined to protect those dear to him, Vash resolves to finally sever the chains of his past.
As each person’s fate interlocks and the story begins to move again, a transmission rains down from the far reaches of space: “We are a fleet of migrant ships from Earth. Those who wish may journey with us to a new land.”
Joy and excitement sweep across the planet.
But as if to mock that hope, a resurrected one-winged angel descends, bringing despair and terror in its wake.
On a planet plunged into madness and chaos, fate at last reaches its final reckoning.
